Victim's Husband Sues Brandy Over Fatal Crash

BrandyTMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed by the husband of the woman killed in a car crash involving former "America's Got Talent" judge Brandy Norwood. It's the second lawsuit the singer is facing regarding the accident.

In the documents, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Marquane Hdidou claims that Brandy and another motorist named Mallory Ham were "recklessly and carelessly ... traveling too fast for conditions and "following too closely" on the 405 Freeway, which factored into the collision that killed his wife, Awatef Aboudihaj on December 30.

As a result of his wife's death, Hdidou claims in the lawsuit that he has, "forever been deprived the support and maintenance, services, guidance, companionship, comfort, affection, solace, moral support, society, care, love, consortium and other benefits" from his wife.

Hdidou is suing for an undisclosed amount of financial relief to cover medical and funeral expenses, as well as legal costs and other damages.

Brandy is also facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by the victim's parents.

Reps for Brandy had no comment.

16. this is truly sad for both sides. however, neither the husband or paren'ts will see alot of money because Brandy has not wrote or performed any songs in years. it truly was an accident that could happen to anyone

17. She shouldn't have been doing what she did in the first place that got her in this mess.
Brandy needs to set up and be a woman about her wrong.

18. You people disgust me. He lost his wife and the mother of his children because she was driving too fast and wasn't paying attention. Why, exactly, do you think he should have to pay for the hospital expenses, ambulance (sometimes nearly $1000) and her funeral expenses? He probably can't afford that.

You can't say he had no relationship with her or the kids, you don't know that AMY.

You are all terrible people. One day if this happens to you, I hope you remember these harsh words and people tell you not to sue the murderer of your spouse and childrens' parent. Karma. Don't judge people just because they aren't celebrities. Those are the people that need the protecting. They don't have the money to buy their ticket to freedom.

Accident or not, she was driving, and when you get in the vehicle and take a life, you have to own up to your responsibilities and repay the people whose lives you have RUINED.

19. We've lost all sense of decency and empathy for our fellow men because of money. I also agree with everyone. I don't believe neither the husband nor the parents would be filing these astronomically high dollar amounts if this involved just a "regular person".

Of course I feel compassion for their loss. But this was an accident, and that's why people have insurance. I don't believe they'll get anywhere near that amount, there are actual limits for how much can be paid out on a death.

20. This is a sad story all around. Nothing can be done to bring that woman back to her family. This was not intentional, but it was a very unfortunate accident. First the woman's parents sued Brandy, then the minor children's lawyer bought a suit against her, now the husband is suing her.

No one will be satisfied no matter how much is paid out from the insurance companies. Life insurance is to provide for your loved ones when you pass on. Term life policies exist in case you pass on before your dependents are old enough to care for themselves. Either this family lacked the proper life insurance to take care of those left behind or they are trying to use money as a way to assuage their grief. Either way, with everyone suing Brandy, it will only tie up her ability to make financial restitution for this tragic accident.

21. I feel sorry for the people that lost their daughter and the man who lost his wife. I just wonder how did they determine how much her death was worth. Will having this money bring her back. I think these people did not even know who Brandi was when she hit the car and after it came out on the news they found out real quick who she was. If it was another lady involved why are you not suing that lady as well. Or is she just like the average American and is not a rich person.

Brandi, I have always like your music and you have always seemed like a grounded down to earth person, and just a geniunely nice person I hope everything works out well for you. Just pray for God to guide you through this.

22. LOL. He's probably already got a new girlfriend. Ahhh, only in America!

23. Its sad, and it probably was an accident (haven't looked at the report)... But if they sued her for funeral expenses, medical expenses stuff like that, it wouldn't matter because she's got enough money that it would (and probably will) be something she'll just pay and move on with her life and probably forget. Hitting people in the wallet for carelessness will make them remember, but if I were in that situation no amount of money would make up for losing my husband... But regardless of who it was I'd want them to remember their mistake cost someone their life, and leaves families without children, parents, spouses, etc. Its just sad that it was an accident but people are making the family out to be bad guys when they lost someone forever, and making Brandy out to be the victim simply because she is a celebrity (and criticizing the family for going after her because she's a celebrity.. double standards ftl). Money can be earned back. But as someone else said, no one is a winner in this case.

24. Jamie - your argument makes no sense. What if you killed this woman? DO you have $50 million? My guess is - NO you don't. Why is this woman's life more valuable because she was killed by someone who had money & success.

I have sympathy - but we live in a society where people look for lawsuits rather than look for jobs. That's what you should be disgusted about.

25. I don't give a crap about Brandy......the family has every right to sue her.

I hope they take it all....whatever that may be. Lock her dumb ass up.

26. The police report said that her breath smelled of Bannanas

Now if thats true then I think it is a pretty cut and dry case..

27. It wouldn't matter to me if a rich person or a poor person killed my spouse. I'd sue them and make their lives miserable. Sure, Brandy didn't mean to kill anybody, but everybody knows what irresponsible driving can lead to.

That woman was a mother as well. Brandy needs to own up. I feel badly for that woman's family.

28. The 50 million dollar won't bring back your wife, dude!

29. Maybe she had a banana smoothie for lunch? Or ate an actual banana? At any rate, please provide link to police report - I didn't read anything about bananas in the report I saw.

30. No amount of money will bring this women back. Her parents filing suit is insane. This women was a wife and mother. She was not supporting them in life, and should not support them with her death. If Brandy wasn't famous, they would only get the amount she was insured for. This was an accident. Brandy will have to live with this the rest of her life. I feel for this family, but would this make the women who died proud to know that her family is putting a price on her life? Enough! Take the max her insurance is for, and start to heal.
